DRV8323R:Inquiry about the possibility of phase shunt current measurement with DRV8323RS.

도구/소프트웨어:

Hello,

We are using the DRV8323RS to control a PMSM and measure the phase current using low-side shunt resistors.
I would like to ask if it is possible to measure the current using a phase shunt method instead of the low-side three-shunt method with the DRV8323RS.

Also, are there any precautions to consider when using the phase shunt method?

Thank you.

  • Hi Jungwon,

Our DRV8323RS driver is only designed for low-side current sensing. The current sensing inputs (SNx/SPx) have low absolute-max voltages ratings that would easily be violated if connected inline with the motor phase. (see ratings below).

Is there a desire/system requirement to use inline current sensing over low-side shunt sensing? If so, it would be best to use external amplifiers rather than the internal DRV8323 CSAs.

I hope this information has been helpful!

    Best Regards,
