Thanks for the question. Could you give more details on the control loop the customer is trying to implement? Are they looking for a closed loop SPEED control? And also could you also explain what do you mean by a "cycle".

Customer is looking to control their motor driver in closed-loop mode. What is the recommended control loop frequency (MCU PI control loop)?

Hi Tyler, I assume the customer is looking for a closed loop speed control. In that case the control loop frequency of speed loop depend on their motor and load mechanical time constant. It is typically a very low frequency like 1/10th of electrical frequency or less depending on the system.

the mechanical frequency is 1/4th of the electrical frequency, and it is for closed loop speed control, so what would be the recommended control loop update frequency?

Manu's comment here on the frequency of the control loop frequency still holds good, say your electrical frequency is f Hz, you can start with f/10 Hz as a starting point for setting the control loop frequency. And further adjust the frequency from there if you need improvements.
