TIDM-02012: Hall Sensor instead of Leg Shunt

Hello,

We are considering TIDM-02012 reference design for developing a 6KW motor drive prototype and have following queries.

1. If the leg shunt resistors are replaced with hall sensors at the inverter output (Motor Phase Current), what are the modifications required in TIDM-02012 reference firmware?

2. If the motor connected is 6KW induction motor instead of PMSM motor, what are the modifications required in TIDM-02012 reference firmware?

What voltage levels are you targeting. I want to make sure TIDM-02012 is the right reference design for your application.

Hello Bhanu,

The DC bus voltage levels are 400V and 800V. Below is the specifications of two motor variants received from the end user.

Variant 1 ==> 400V DC Bus, 80V/30Hz to 230V/80Hz Output

Variant 2 ==> 800V DC Bus, 166V/30Hz to 380V/80Hz Output

Thanks. TIDM-02012 is indeed the right ref design for these motor types. I do not think the firmware will change much just based on changing the current sensor types. However, you do need to adjust the adc gains accordingly.

Hi,

It is not about the sensor types, the location of sensor will be different as shown below. The reference firmware is based on leg shunt (Left Image) and our upcoming prototype is based on motor phase current (Right Image).

Please let us know what modifications needed in reference firmware for change of current sensor location.
