Hi Chirag,
Thanks for your question! The DRV3205 is not designed for 80V applications so unfortunately could not be used. Is 80V the nominal operating voltage? What is the peak expected voltage transients that could be present as a result of supply pumping/deceleration? The drivers with the highest voltage rating that we have for 2.5kW with external FETs are the DRV8161 and DRV8353 and DRV8300. These drivers have abs max ratings at around 100V. If 80V is your nominal operating voltage, then 100V abs max doesn't provide much margin in the cases of supply pumping. Typically we recommend an abs max of 1.5x to 2x the nominal operational voltage to provide margin for transients. The DRV8161, DRV8353, and DRV8300 were primarily designed to target 48V applications.

Good Morning Anthony
Thank you for your prompt reply.
We are designing ESC for drones & using 12S to 14S battery as input & as stated correctly we hv taken 1.5x as margin which is 77V. Should we give it a try with DRV81xx & DRV83xx?

Hi Chirag,
Thanks for the clarification, then the DRV816x and DRV8350/3 devices or DRV8300 should work for a 12S to 14S battery. Let me know if you have any additional questions! The DRV816x is our newest 48V driver that is in development (we have samples available) and since it is a single phase driver this allows for better placement of the driver closer to the FETs which helps reduce parasitic inductances on the layout (you need 3 DRV816x drivers for a 3 phase motor). The DRV8300 is a very basic 3 phase driver, whereas the DRV8353 is a 3 phase driver with lots of integrated protection features and integrated CSAs.

Thank you so very much for your guidance.
We are also developing our own BLDC motor so with different winding configurations (Wye or Delta) type we believe the same solution will work however we
want to use delta type winding for drone application as common but We need your opinion on winding configurations whether we go ahead with Star or delta for heavy payload drones and if you have any ref documents pls do share with us.
Thank you once again for your time & with this our query has resolved.
Hi Chirag,
Glad to help out! Unfortunately I don't have any guidance to provide on the Wye vs Delta winding for drone applications, and I was unable to find any resources. Let me know if you find any good resources around this topic! I would love to learn more on any advantages/disadvantages between the 2.
