MCT8316Z: Primary Application Schematics in datasheet

Part Number: MCT8316Z

Tool/software:

Hi support team all.

Recently, we received a comment from our customer about the main application circuit diagram in the datasheet.

The details are as follows:

・In the circuit below, the Vcc power supply for the microcontroller is supplied from the AVDD of the MCT8316Z.

・The nsleep of the MCT8316Z is pulled down internally.

・When the supply of VM starts, the system starts up from the MCT8316Z.

・The GPO of the microcontroller connected to nsleep in the circuit diagram is not pulled up internally, so the MCT8316Z is in sleep mode when the system starts up.

・In this state, AVDD is disabled, so power cannot be supplied from AVDD to the Vcc of the microcontroller.

As shown above, the circuit in the datasheet seems to be in a state where the system will never start up. Are their comments valid?

We have considered the correct circuit.

It is a method of supplying power by dividing it with a resistor from the VM. However, the nsleep terminal is protected by a Zener diode (5V) to take into account the voltage fluctuations of the VM.

I also considered using an LDO from the VM to generate 3.3V, but that would negate the benefit of having an LDO or switching regulator built into the MCT8316Z.

If you know of any other good methods, please let me know.

Best regards,

Higa
