DRV8873: Issue with the H-Bridge Driver DRV8873SPWPRQ1

Part Number: DRV8873

Tool/software:

We have been using the part DRV8873SPWPRQ1 in our design for a while.

Recently in some of boards returning from the field show a unique problem.

When the H bridge is not powered and the processor does active communication on the SPI lines the MCU goes into a boot loop mode and never comes out.

These does not happens with all the boards and we have a quite good amount running on the field.

Kindly let us know what could cause this issue.

  • Hi Ravi,

Thanks for contacting us via this forum.

When the H bridge is not powered and the processor does active communication on the SPI lines the MCU goes into a boot loop mode and never comes out.

What is the specific register and its values the MCU firmware is looking for? This would be some thing in the MCU firmware that causes a boot loop. We won't be able to pin point what this could be due to without knowing such details about the logic in the firmware that results in a control MCU boot loop. Thank you.
