DRV10983: bldc

Part Number: DRV10983

Tool/software:

Hi

I would like to control a BLDC motor 50w from a 24v supply, but need to do it without a micro or software.

I need to control the speed/ torque and direction and have a static brake. will the DRV range be appropriate?

the 3phase motor has hall sensors.

can I use the adc output or taco to generate a pwm or a voltage to control the speed. ie using an a integrator to do the control loop?

has anyone done this before?

cheers

Ross

  • Hi Ross,

Apologies for a late response. The DRV10983 has a continuous sinusoidal 180° commutation algorithm integrated into the device. So as far as speed control is concerned, the device can do that for you over I2C or the SPEED pin on the device. You would'nt need the hall sensors as well as the device is a sensorless driver. You would only need to tune the device parameters with respect to the motor characteristics. You can find the tuning guide here.

Please go through the device datasheet as well here before attempting to understand tuning.

    Thanks and regards,
