Hi Team,

when customer test the EVM, at start, EVM report this fault. Do you have any idea about its meaning? how to solve it?

Besides, why EVM need so large heat dissipation, customer can't build so large heat dissipation due to area limitation. Can you share the smallest requirement about the heat dissipation area? Thanks!

Hey Ruixin,

Often that error means another program is using the COM port for the EVM, and/or the GUI is trying to connect to the wrong com port. Try going to the top of the GUI and finding the Serial Port settings and choosing a different one. Also close out other programs and make sure you only have 1 instance of the GUI open.

The EVM is designed this way to easily support external heatsink on the EVM. This much area is not needed. It is hard to say what the smallest required is as that will depend on customer system load current and operating environment. I recommend the customer design their board normally without any extra space for the motor driver, but make sure to follow these best practices: Best Practices for Board Layout of Motor Drivers (Rev. B)
