DRV8262: Efficiency vs. Switching Frequency Data

Part Number: DRV8262
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8962,

Tool/software:

I am looking at an alternative for the EOL DRV8432 and have come upon the DRV8262 and the DRV8962 as suitable options. I would like to compare the "Efficiency vs Switching Frequency" data for all three Bridge Drivers, but I can only find this data from the EOL DRV8432 (attached below), and the two datasheets for the alternative components do not list any frequency data aside from the maximum frequency limit. Are there plots or data available to find the efficiency of the DRV8262 and DRV8962 over the operational frequency range? If not, how comparable would the frequency range performance be if a PWM switching frequency of 100 KHz was used, or would a lower frequency give a higher efficiency given the narrower bandwidth?

Thank you

  • Hello Christopher,

Thanks for contacting us via this forum. We do not have a similar plot for the DRV8962. The efficiency at higher PWM frequencies is a function of rise time and fall time. You can calculate the power loss at various fPWM using the formula in page-26 of the datasheet, section 8.1.1.2.1 Power Loss Calculations. I'd expect the DRV8962 to have similar efficiency flatness in the 100 kHz range.
