BOOSTXL-DRV8320RS: Regading motor usage

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8320RS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LAUNCHXL-F280049C,

Tool/software:

HI

I am from embedded software background. currently i have assigned to do some motor control application using the board combination "LAUNCHXL-F280049C + BOOSTXL-DRV8320RS" . My doubt are

1) What are the thing/parameters should be consider while selecting a motor for the above mentioned board combination

2) Can i use any motor within the voltage range of 6 to 54V and a current rating from 1Apm to 15Amp?

3) I already have 2 motors used for some other project that are BLY172S-24-400 and Linix 45ZWN24-40. Can i use these motors with above mentioned board combination?

Please answer as soon as possible.

  • Hi Ranjith,

    Thank you for your patience.

What are the thing/parameters should be consider while selecting a motor for the above mentioned board combination

The most important consideration is the power rating of the motor. The device is rated for 65V abs-max and is best recommended for 12-24V power rails due to the possibility of transients being twice the supply voltage.

When choosing the motor you should first consider the application needs and how much power (W) you will require. Then, determine your voltage supply, and based off of your supply voltage you can see which motor current rating is suitable to achieve your goal. (Ex. A 100W system can either use a 24V x 5A rated motor or 12V x 10A motor)

I already have 2 motors used for some other project that are BLY172S-24-400 and Linix 45ZWN24-40. Can i use these motors with above mentioned board combination?

Yes, both of these BLDC motors fall within the typical design specifications of our driver (24V, 50+W)

    Hope this information is helpful!
