DRV8706-Q1: switching frequency, support 60kHz or not?

Part Number: DRV8706-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

What is the maximum Ivcp? I can only find this spec here but can't use for equation calculation.

If can't provide, could you please consider below scenario?

  1. For LSD PWM control, Ivcp= 9.2nC*60kHz=0.55mA
  2. For HSD PWM control, Ivcp should be same as 0.55mA
  3. If HSD is always on, Ivcp should be lower than 0.55mA as no switching

The real working condition is the combination of above three scenario. could you draw a conclusion that if IVCP<15mA in this case can support 60kHz fsw?

Thanks !

Best

Josh

  • Hey Josh,

Those calculations are explained more in this datasheet section below.  As you found yes, 60kHz will be just fine with the FET you selected, no problem at all.  The different I_VCP is for different voltages - so if you use 5.5V for PVDD, you can only have 5mA for I_VCP.  But above 13V it supports 15mA for I_VCP.

    Best,

    Jacob
