DRV8912-Q1: What is the consequence if short all OUTx together

Hi experts,

Could you please help to identify whether this is a trouble or not? Customer would like to short all output pin together when testing in their production line.

    Hey Josh,

    Depends on the settings - if you set all the outputs to the same mode (ex. all of them HIGH) and tie them together then it will be fine.  If you have some LOW and some HIGH then you will create a direct short and should trip overcurrent protection.

    What are they trying to test/accomplish with this test?  I would think shorting them all together would mask an issue like if just 1 output was malfunctioning.
