DRV8334: When would I want to set TCP_EN_DLY?

Part Number: DRV8334

Tool/software:

I've been going through the datasheet and am wondering when I might want to set the bit TCP_EN_DLY for the DRV8334 / what use case there might be in increasing the time between inputs being off and the trickle charge pump being activated

  • Hey Jonathan,

Thank you for the question. I will aim to provide an update before the end of the week.

    Best,

  • Hey Jonathan,

You can get some power savings by having the TCP take longer to enable. For example if your application does not need the TCP to kick in frequently (not a lot of 100% duty cycle) then having the 250us option would help save more power than using the 100us.

The 100us setting should be fine, the benefit is that, if you know you system/application would be find with 250us then you have a method to save from power.

Note: at 20kHz 100us is 2 PWM periods with no switching, 250 is 5 PWM periods.

    Best,

    Akshay
