MCF8316AEVM: Improving circuit efficiency using MCF8316AEVM

Hi,

We are evaluating the efficiency of the motor under the following two conditions.

① MCF8316AEVM and motor driver

② Motor alone

The measurement results ① and ② deviate greatly, and the loss in MCF8316AEVM is large compared to evaluation boards of other companies' FOC ICs. Could you give me some advice on whether it is possible to improve the efficiency of the EVM and motor set by reducing the EVM power consumption by stopping functions that are not necessary for motor control?

Also, does the MSP430 on the MCF8316AEVM use a power supply stepped down from the EVM's VM power supply or VBAT power supply?

    Hi Conor,

    Thanks for posting your question.

    EVM has MSP430, USB to serial etc, we can separate power section and isolate MCF8316C.

    MCF831x are FOC based and utilized full torque .

    Can you share more details about your performance measurement?

    Can you also share the motor parameter?
