DRV8214: Please suggest driver device for brushed DC motor

Part Number: DRV8214
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8215,

Tool/software:

Dear Sir or Madame,

I need a small, low-power motor driver for a DC brushed motor. My power supply is 2.2 V - 3.7 V. The motor has no sensors on it (no light barrier, no hall sensors).

I need to be able to control the position of the motor accurately though it has no sensors.

I need to have a controlled motor force, independent of the battery's actual voltage

I saw the DRV8214 uses a ripple counter to assure the position is accurately known.

How reliable and accurate is such a ripple counter ? Are there other approaches and what are their disadvantages and advantages ?

Is it possible to have that controlled motor force ?

Are there devices other than the DRV8214 that I should consider ?

It would be very helpful if I could talk to a TI engineer who is experienced in motor control and TI's latest driver devices.

Martin
