MCF8329A: Using motor studio and MSP-EXP430FR2355 to control gate driver over i2c

Part Number: MCF8329A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8329EVM, MSP-EXP430FR2355

Tool/software:

What would I need to do in order to use an MSP430 dev board and motor studio to control the MCF8329A gate driver over i2c, rather than using the MCF8329EVM?

I've progressed far enough in my design that I only need to use motor studio for i2c control during testing, and some small register tweaks. Similarly, my own ESC is largely developed and I'm no longer using any of the hardware on the EVM aside from the MSP430 that's acting as a bridge between motor studio and the i2c bus. Unfortunately, I managed to let the magic smoke out of my EVM.

I've ordered the MSP-EXP430FR2355 development board, and intend to use that as a bridge instead. Should I be able to just flash the EVM's firmware to the MSP430 dev board, then connect the I2C lines to my ESC? Or are there other changes I would need to make?
