MCT8316A: How to connect the DRVOFF pin

DRVOFF pin can be grounded directly. 

The roll of this pin is for cutting off the inveter stage from driving the motor as a protection feature.

But, before powering DRVOFF should be low always.

General recommendation is to ground it.

MCT8316 has many built in protection features which takes care of stopping to drive motor under fault condition.

Thank you for your reply. I have an additional question.

If pins 32 (EXT_WD) and 33 (EXT_CLK) are not used, how should I treat these pins?

Hi Conor,

You can leave them floating or connect o ground.

NC pins connecting ground will help for thermal, but you leave them floating as recommended in the data sheet.
