DRV8702-Q1: leave output floating

Part Number: DRV8702-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello team,

DRV8702 After the chip is powered on, in order to ensure that the VCP output is up to 23V high level voltage, does it only need nsleep to pull up?
Is there a problem if the DRV8702 output is not driving the H-bridge MOSFET? That is, if there is only a pre-driver chip and there are no external components such as MOSFETs, will the 8702 report a fault?

Thanks!

Regards,

Daniel Wang

  • Hi Daniel,

Thanks for your question. The device expert from my team will look into this and get back to you.

  • Hello Ibinu,

Hope to get your feedback soon.

  • Hi Daniel,

Is there a problem if the DRV8702 output is not driving the H-bridge MOSFET? That is, if there is only a pre-driver chip and there are no external components such as MOSFETs, will the 8702 report a fault?

The DRV870x-Q1 has GDF and VDS monitors to monitor the output FET conditions for detecting fault or OCP conditions. With no FETs connected GDF may be reported as well as VDS fault if enabled (VDS pin of the DRV8702-Q1). What is the status of the nFAULT pin under this condition?

Why does the customer want to use this device with no output MOSFETs?

DRV8702 After the chip is powered on, in order to ensure that the VCP output is up to 23V high level voltage, does it only need nsleep to pull up?

The charge pump will be disabled only when VM UVLO or TSD conditions happen. Under other faults charge pump will be operational when the device is awake, nSLEEP = 1. Thanks.
