MCF8315A: SPEED_REF VALUE NOT UPDATE

Part Number: MCF8315A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8315C

Tool/software:

Hi,

I'm using MCF8315A  with customize hardware  and developer an GUI for read/write the EEPROM register value connecting with 24V BLDC motor in I2C communication mode.

According to  TI tuning user guide Recommended Default Values  are rewrite in the NVM/Register with attached below and also I have reference the MCF8315A datasheet for  flow of Motor Start Sequence (MSS) in  that  SPEED_REF should be greater than zero but I cannot able to write the SPEED_REF_OPEN_LOOP, SPEED_REF_CLOSED_LOOP in  RAM register.  if I wrote its take Default value 00000000 like this.  So kindly suggestion how to approach for  spin the motor. which  pin should take care in spin the motor. what are guide line for parameter changing.

Please, help me figure out what could be the cause of this problem and how I could solve it.

Default setting of my hardware  pin is

FG (Set as input)   - 0v(Default voltage in that pin)

NFAULT (Set as input)  - 0v(Default voltage in that pin)

BRAKE (Set as output) - 0v(Default voltage in that pin)

SPEED(Set as output) - 5v(Default voltage in that pin)

DRV_OFF(set as output)-0v(Default voltage in that pin)

  • Hello Prabhakaran,

    Thanks for your question.

    1. Are you able to successfully read/write registers through I2C?

    2. Could you please share your files here directly instead of OneDrive. External file sharing resources are not accessible for security reasons.

    Regards,
    Sachin S

  • No Issue in I2C, we are able to R/W in NVM and RAM Memory.
Our configuration file also attached here.

could you please support for the pre-configuration setting to spin the motor.

Our NVM and RAM setting Files also attached here.

  • Hello Prabhakaran,

While I look at the configurations, wanted to check if you would you be willing to use our MCF8315C instead? MCF8315C is the latest version of the MCF8315x portfolio updated with new features and bug fixes.

    Thanks and regards,
    Sachin S
