1. Must the pin Pdd be connected with the top supply of power-MOSFETs (ICs: DRV8328 +8329)?

2. Can the pin Pdd be supplied from a buck with an output voltage of about 5V?

3. Where can I find the source pin leakage current for other families DRV 835x + DRV8323 etc?

Hey Zbyno,

1. I assume you are referring to the PVDD pin. The PVDD pin is the supply for the driver and the Supply for the drain of the MOSFETs. They should be the same node so that your VDS monitors work as expected. This device is not meant for split supply operation.

2. What is your motor voltage? Is the buck able to deliver the driver current and motor current at the desired voltage.

Keep in mind the minimum recommended voltage is 4.5V on PVDD, so please account for transients.

3. We do not have leakage current spec for these two parts in the DS. Are you seeing any unexpected behavior?

I understood the device was not meant for split supply, but does version 8328C or 8328D (without VDS-input) or version A with disabled VDS monitoring work with split supply without damage of DRV8328?

Hi Akshay,

MOSFET drain voltage will be 48V +/-22 %.

Hey zbyno,

DRV8328 is not rated for 48V applications. You should be looking at our 100V rated parts for 48V applications such as DRV835x, DRV816x and DRV8300.

Also when you say 48V +/22% does that mean battery tolerance? Because the abs max is in relation to driver pin which might see more transients which can lead to abs max violations.

When you power PVDD using 5V and have a higher BST voltage then the trickle charge pump wouldn't be able to replenish the BST so you cant do 100% duty cycle. Furthermore, you run the risk of potentially back powering TCP.

The PVDD voltage of 24V+/- 25 would be fine as long as you are not doing split supply.

1. I asked 2 months ago if other members of the DRV8xxx- family have similar parameters in datasheets like DRV8328/29 the leakage current ILshx for source pins.

I did not find them.

What do you think about the solution I have described?

Note: by the measure of the motor resistance we can use the OP with gain (4x, 8x or 16x) in MSPM0G3507

for the more precise measure
