MCF8329A: Component Rating Changing In a existing design of EVM board

Part Number: MCF8329A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MOTORSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi,

Actually I need to redesign the existing MCF8329A EVM. Since i had a application that requires around 90 A to run the motor. As of now the existing design is suits up to 30 A. The motor is PMSM FOC based 3-phase motor. Can anyone guide me to fulfil my requirement.

Thanks and Regards,

RAJAPANDI S

  • Hi Rajapandi,

Please refer to this guide for suggestions on building a board for your requirements. I would suggest not simply replacing the MOSFET on the EVM for your solution. You may have to build your own PCB.

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hello Sachin,

I had a doubt that if we build our own PCB is it work with the TI Motor Studio?. Since we design almost similar to the MCF8329A EVM. We are only just modifying the required components to achieve the high power application drives. Please clarify the same.

    Thanks and Regards,

  • Hi Rajapandi,

Your own PCB will not work with MOTORSTUDIO unless you have similar schematics as the EVM and the correct firmware loaded into the MSP MCU.

You can change the power stage (MOSFETs) of the schematics as per your requirement. And if everything else is the same, we need to load the correct firmware and it should work!

    Thanks and regards,
