Tool/software:
Web GUI cannot connect motor driver. Please advice.
Hello Fujimura-san,
Please try File -> Program DRV8214, which would install some drivers. Then, please click on the following button to connect hardware (bottom left corner of your GUI window):
Let us know if this does now work.
Regards,
Karan
Hello Karan-san.
Thank you for your reply.
I tried to program DRV8214. It was successfull, but it didn't fix the problem. See attached log.
Do you have any other idea?
Hi Fujimura-san,
Please give us until next week to get back to you on this.
Regards,
Karan
Hello Karan-san,
Thanks for reply. I hope a good idea.
Best regards,
Norio Fujimura
Hi Fujimura-san,
I checked with our Apps engineer. From the log it seems like the ID resistors at MSP430 GPIO might not be properly populated which caused the handshake operation to be unsuccessful. This might have been a problem in our old batch of EVMs. Can you please tell us when this was purchased?
Regards,
Karan
Hello Karan-san,
I have 2 EVM boards. Both of them were failed to connect.
purchase date are 2023/10 and 2024/6.
I show the picture of the EVM board which I got in 2023/10.
Best regards.
Thanks Fujimura-san,
Could you please send a picture of the Resistors R39, R52, and R41? They are the ID resistors and I want to make sure they are populated correctly. If you can see values too, for a sanity check, that would be great!
Additionally, I do see that the marking in your image is MD069'A' whereas the latest one we released is MD069'C. Please give me a day to look into this. If you could provide the ID resistor picture in the meantime I'd appreciate it.
Regards,
Karan
Hello Karan-san,
Please see attached picture. R39,R52 and R41 are populated. They are 10kohm.
1pin and 2pin are connected with jumper at J6.
Best regards,
Norio Fujimura
Thanks Fujimura-san,
That looks okay. One final check - can we verify that the GUI version is latest (v2.0.2)?
Also, I would recommend downloading the GUI software from DRV8214EVM.
Regards,
Karan
Hello Karan-san,
We use the Web GUI version v2.0.2.
We also tried local GUI version v2.0.2. But it failed to connect.
Do you have any other idea?
Best Regards,
Norio Fujimura
Hi Fujimura-san,
I have looped in our experts to help here since I've exhausted all my options.
Meanwhile, I will request Goto-san to get two fresh EVMs to you that work.
Regards,
Karan
Hello Karan-san,
Thank you for your support. Goto-san contacted me.
Best Regards,
Norio Fujimura
Hi Fujimura-san,
Sounds good! I will let David/Murugavel comment here with the best possible course of debug action for this particular EVM. Would be good to understand the root cause.
Regards,
Karan
Thanks Karan-san,
Hi Fujimura-san,
Hopefully the new EVMs will work for you. In the meantime, I would also suggest looking at this FAQ about connectivity issues with motor drivers.
When using the cloud based GUI, it's important to make sure the TI Cloud Agent Bridge is downloaded and activated on your extensions tab.
When using the desktop GUI app the GUI Composer Runtime (GCRuntime) should be downloaded and installed to properly communicate with the EVM. This should be installed when the app is downloaded but sometimes network firewalls can prevent proper installation. If this occurs, then the GCRuntime installer must be downloaded from the app installer here.
Be sure that the GCRuntime installer is downloaded to a local folder before running the app installer.
Best,
David
Hello David-san,
Thank you for your help.
We use the TI Cloud Agent Bridge. It's active.
When we use the desktop GUI app, we installed the GUI Composer Runtime (GCRuntime).
Is the GUI Composer Runtime (GCRuntime) version correct?
Best regards,
Norio Fujimura
Hi Fujimura-san,
Yes, this appears to be the correct GCRuntime version.
I'll verify operation on my side but please let us know if the new EVMs are seeing these same issues.
Best,
David
Helllo David-san,
I got the new EVMs from Goto-san. The new EVMs are connected to the PC and works fine.
New EVMs version is MD069'C.
MD069'A and MD069'B are not connected to PC.
MD069'C is connected to the PC.
What's the difference MD069'C and the others?
Best Regards,
Norio Fujimura
Hi Fujimura-san,
I'm glad the MD069C EVMs worked. The changes made from version A to C were minor hardware changes but shouldn't have caused any connection issues. It's possible the latest version of FW wasn't flashed onto the older versions.
Best,
David
Hello David-san,
Thank you for your answer. We use the MD069C EVMs.
Best Regards,
Norio Fujimura
