Dear Support Team,

I am currently using the MCF8329A, and I would like to inquire about the factory default setting of the DAC_SOX_ANA_CONFIG bit when power is first applied.

Additionally, I would appreciate it if you could provide the default register values related to this setting.

For example, if the DAC_SOX_ANA_CONFIG = 0x00 (DACOUT), could you also confirm the factory default setting of the DAC_1 register?

If possible, could you kindly provide the full list of factory default settings for the MCF8329A?

This matter is quite urgent, so I would appreciate your prompt response.

Hi N. THAO,

DAC_SOX_ANA_CONFIG default is DACOUT , but user can change the configuration and program to EEPROM.

DAC_1 is volatile memory, power cycle resets to 0.

You can find factory default in the data sheet page#190 (Table 8-1. Recommended Default Values).

Can you provide use case and more details?

I have already made the changes to the register for my project, but I would like to understand the behavior of the driver IC in case there is any issue with the I2C write sequence. Specifically, how does the driver IC behave under such conditions?

From your response, I understand that the default setting for DAC_SOX_ANA_CONFIG is DACOUT, and DAC_1 is reset to 0 when power is first applied.

So, if I don’t write anything to the driver EEPROM, what will be the output on the DACOUT/SOx/SPEED_ANA pins?

Since DACOUT1_VAR_ADDR default is set to 0x00, I assume it doesn’t output anything, and the voltage should remain at 1.5V. Is that correct?

Yes if nothing is written the default is 1.5V (bi polar).

Sorry, but I would like to understand more about this.

I have set DAC_SOX_ANA_CONFIG = DACOUT.

If I don't configure anything for DAC_1 during the power cycle reset, DAC_1 will reset to 0, so DACOUT1_VAR_ADDR will also be reset to 0.

In that case, what will be the output on the DACOUT/SOx/SPEED_ANA pin?

Will the output voltage remain at 1.5V, or will it change to something else?
