Hi Fahad,
Thanks for the question.
Can you confirm the application that this will go into.
Thanks,
Ibinu
Hi,
I am driving a gate with this solenoid.
Application details:
A conveyor is running with a motor that carries a small amount of grains. I want to use the DRV8231A to control the motor. On the front side of the conveyor, a gate is attached and controlled by a solenoid. I also want to use the DRV8231A for the solenoid.
In total, we have two gates and one motor. Both gates operate at different stages. I want to continuously monitor the current usage for both the motor and solenoids.
The motor is a worm gear brush motor rated for 12–15V DC, with a speed of 20 RPM.
Do I need to install a flywheel diode across the motor terminals (+ve,-ve)?
Let me know if you have more questions.
Thank you, FS
Hi Fahad,
Thanks for the response.
We have an application Note which describes using a half bridge for a solenoid application, Also this same note talks about the High side switch implementation also
If you can confirm the current requirement we can look at various parts which will suit your requirement.
Thanks,
Ibinu
Hi,
Thanks for the response.
I think using GPIO to trigger the gate is sufficient for me. I don't want to use SPI for this purpose. I have two gates that can be easily driven with two GPIOs instead of using SPI. Do you recommend any solution with the DRV8231A for this? Thank you
Hi Fahad,
Yes we can use the DRV8213A also in the same architecture as mentioned in that Application note.
I can take a look at schematics once you have them ready.
Thanks,
Ibinu
Hi,
Thanks for your response.
I will update you shortly with schematic design. Thank you
