Some time ago I requested access to the full datasheet of the DRV3946-Q1, but I haven't heard anything from it since. Could someone grant me access to this document? Or if I already have the access to it, where can I find the document? Thanks in advance.

Hi Xino Tillis-Cristo,

Thanks for granting me access. My team is considering using the DRV3946-Q1, and we would like to do some testing with the EVM before choosing it in our design. I can not find the EVM at big vendors, and on the TI page of the EVM I see a 'request' button. How does requesting the EVM work? Thanks for the help.

Thank you, I requested the order link. Depending on the price of the EVM we will consider using it in a test setup.

Regarding in-depth questions I have concerning circuit design with the DRV3946-Q1, would it be advised to post them on this e2e forum, or would it be best to consult you or a different TI engineer in private, seeing as you do not openly share the extended documentation of the DRV3946-Q1?

Hi Ibinu and Xino,

The first question I have is regarding the SPI communication interface and VVD supply pins. The datasheet states multiple times that VDD should be powered with 5V, and the SPI interface should also be converted to 5V if MCU operates at 3.3V. I was going to add a TXU0304 to realise the level shifting, but noticed that the EVM uses 3.3V SPI interface and also powers the DRV3946 with 3.3V on the VDD pin. However, the schematic does state that 'VIO can be tied to 5V or 3.3V rail. Although 5V is the recommended'.

What is the most robust approach for the interface? Copying the EVM schematics or stick with the 5V as recommended by the datasheet?

Hi Jeffrey,

For the 3.3V MCU operation, all output from the DRV3946-Q1 should be level shifted. However inputs can go directly.

Please see a block diagram representation of the same. Hope this clarifies.
