DRV8962-Q1: IPROPI pin at Coast function

Part Number: DRV8962-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

We are researching the datasheet of DRV8962-Q1, the table 7-1 has some confusion.

At the bottom of the table, it is said one of the Brake function and Coast function will not output proportional current on IPROPI pin. May I know the reason for this? Is the operating mode leads current sense cannot work?

If we monitor the IPROPI pin at these conditions, what kind of output would expect? Does it mean we cannot use IPROPI pin for current sense for these conditions, but need to use external methods?

Thanks

Best,

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

The IPROPI pins source a small current that is proportional to the current in the high-side MOSFETs. The conditions listed with the note of IPROPI not outputting proportional current are due to the high-side FET not being active which leads to the IPROPI pins not having a current to source. In the cases where the high-side FET is not conducting the IPROPI pins will not output the current, there still may be a small voltage on the pin but this is not equal to the output current.

    Regards,

    Joshua
