DRV8703-Q1: Regarding the configuration issue of DRV8703 driving current

Part Number: DRV8703-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Teams,

Regarding the datasheet description of DRV8703, it is stated that the SINK and SOURCE currents of the driving current can be configured through software. May I ask if it is necessary to connect resistors in series with the external driving signal to limit the current after successful configuration? Or will there be corresponding current limiting measures after the internal configuration is successful, and there is no need to limit the current through external resistors? The question is quite urgent, please answer it, thank you!

  • Hi,

    Thank you for your questions.

Adding series resister is not needed. DRV can program driving current via SPI.

Only optional recommendation is to put 0ohm resister in prototype. If very slow tr/tf is needed what cannot be done with min current setting, customer can add some resistance to make it slower.

    regards

    Shinya
