DRV8912-Q1EVM: Software GUI "Failed to connect TI Cloud Agent" Error

Hi,
I am facing an issue with the DRV8912-Q1EVM software GUI, Whenever I try to open the GUI two errors are displayed saying "Failed to Connect TI Cloud Agent" and then "GC Runtime Installation Error".

Both the Software (DRV89xx v1.1.2 and gcruntime v10.0.0) are installed properly on my work laptop with the admin access while installation.

Hi Karan,

The "GC Runtime Installation Error" points to an unsuccessful installation of the Runtime, likely due to firewall of your work computer regardless of the admin access. You can download the Runtime installer separately and install it in your computer. You can also run the cloud based GUI app without local installation of the Runtime. https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/MotorDriversBSM/DRV89xx-Q1/ver/1.1.2/. You must be logged into https://dev.ti.com/gallery/ using your myTI credentials before clicking on the cloud based GUI link.

I'd recommend the following sequence for re-installation of the desktop app:

1. Uninstall the current app including Runtime.

2. Download the GUI app installer from https://dev.ti.com/gallery/dl/MotorDriversBSM/DRV89xx-Q1/ver/1.1.2?platform=win. Unzip and prepare for installation but not start installation yet.

3. Download the Runtime for this GUI from https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/non-esd/gui_composer/runtime/gcruntime-10.0.0-windows-installer.exe to your local Downloads folder.

4. Start the app. installation. During the installation process when you see the pop-up for Runtime installation instead of the default install from the web use install from folder and point to the downloaded Runtime installer. Let it install in the designated folders, please do not customize installation folders.

5. Assuming you have the latest FT232 drivers installed, identify the COMx for this USB using Windows device manager, make note of it.

6. Open the Windows desktop GUI. If the installation was successful the GUI should open without any errors.

7. If needed point to the correct COMx port using the "Options > Serial Port" menu.
