DRV8452: PWPR Torque Setting in Hardware Version ?

Part Number: DRV8452

Tool/software:

Hi,

we are trying to use DRV8452PWPR Version, which is hardware version.v i have tried running motor in 1/128 uStep and 1/256uSteps but no effect in increased torque.

But our motor is taking just 0.2A and when we try to give load to motor shaft it vibrates. I understand stepper motor is not able to handle torque.

I need help in

1) Disable Auto Torque / Stall.

2) Increase Torque ?

Please guide for the same.

  • Hi Kalpesh,

Thank you for posting in this forum.

    1) Disable Auto Torque / Stall.

The DRV8452PWPR version is a HW package and does not have the AUTO torque and Stall detection features. Functional block diagram (section 7.3 P 16 of   datasheet) is shown below.

    2) Increase Torque ?

The DRV benefits from a current regulation circuit. The current flowing the winding can be controlled by setting the VREF voltage using formulae below explained in section 7.3.8 current regulation P 28.

    FS (A) = VREF (V) / KV (V/A)

The KV value can be found in 6.5 Electrical Characteristic table.

Please check the VREF voltage and adjust it accordingly.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Best regards,
    Mojtaba
