I recently purchased the DRV8662EVM. I accidentally applied more than 5.5V to VBAT. Now, I have applied 5V and connected the output to an oscilloscope. In mode 1, I am only getting a momentary positive waveform. I would like to inquire whether I am missing something or if the board is damaged.

Hello,

What voltage was applied to VBAT? It is possible the device was damaged if you are not seeing the same performance as you did before the <5.5V VBAT was applied. You could swap the IC on the EVM if possible to check.

Thank you for your quick response.
I was applying through VBAT through a 5V through voltage regulator. But accidentally, the regulator was already burnt. Therefore, the 11.4V from the DC adapter supplied to the DRV8662.

It was my first time with this device. I am expecting a sinewave of 50V at output. As active(en) led is blinking, it is in mode 1. But I am getting just burst of positive wave. Please find the video link below

Hi Muneeb,

Ah I see. Can you scope In+, In-, Out+, and Out- at the same time? Separately can you also probe EN with the output signals?

I have noticed that DRV8662 is producing output only when the enable is high.

Output and Input

Mode2 Output when enable is continuously high

This means to get a continuous wave form. I must opt mode 2, 4, 6 and 8?
Also, other question why I am not getting Vout = 50V at Mode2?

I have also included a video when I applied an external PWM to EXT(+ve,—ve) pins, switching between different modes.

Hi Muneeb,

Thank you for the information. Let me look into this to see if the device is pointing to any signs of damage. Because a higher voltage than datasheet spec was applied though, it is likely that it has some damage regardless of what the videos point to. Is it possible to swap the IC?
