DRV8718-Q1: Leakage current from KL30 battery

Part Number: DRV8718-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer are using our DRV8718-Q1 on their Auto BCM board.

As the figure shown, when the ground of the BCM board is disconnected, a current of about 265mA will flow from the battery to the load (Wiper motor) through the low-side MOS body diode.

1. Can our DRV8718-Q1 protect against this current?

2. If not, how should the circuit be designed to avoid this situation? It seems that this is a common situation when the DRV8718-Q1 is configured in half-bridge drive mode. I would like to know how other customers solve it.

3. Can DRV8718-Q1 perform ground diagnosis to detect whether the ground potential is close to 12V? If so, it can report an error to allow the MCU to take action and cut off the power supply.

Thanks!

Raymond
