DRV8889-Q1EVM: USB connection issue

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1EVM

Tool/software:

I followed the steps suggested in the thread. I tried updating drivers and am using the latest GUI version but the board doesn't read on any PC. One thing I noticed is the nFAULT LED is always on when I plug in the board to the PC. Any tips or suggestions how to resolve this?

  • Hi Slawomir.

    Thank you for your question.

Based on the thread that you referred, I would like to confirm that you:

1: Used the GUI Cloud Version 1.17 from DRV8889-Q1 with the serial baud rate must be 115200.

2- Installed the Cloud Agent Application.

3- make sure the status led is blinking when the EVM is connected to the PC using cable.

4- Apply the voltage (6 V) to the VM/VBAT and GND connections

5- try reset button on the EVM to clear the fault. See if the nFault LED is still light or not?

Please try the above steps and let me know the results.

    Best regards,

    Mojtaba.

  • Hey Mojtaba,

I tried the steps above to no avail. The nFAULT only lights up when I plug in the cable. The board LED blinks fine when connected to DC and draws an idle current. However, as soon as I plug in the cable the board dies and neither it is detected by the PC.

  • Hi Slawomir,

    Thank you for the update.

The green LED should blink either in DC supply or PC cable connection and nFault should be off at both statuses.

    Please check the figures below.

Have you used this EVM before or it is a new one?

What is your EVM version? is That E1/E2 or A version?

I'm wondering if the IC or FTDI device is damaged.

    VM + Cable

    VM only

    Cable only

    Best regards,

    Mojtaba.
