DRV8889-Q1: fPWM range

Part Number: DRV8889-Q1

Tool/software:

Dear team,

Can I know the f_PWM which regulates the output current of DRV8889A-Q1? I understand it is really depending on motor or electrical specifications and also decay mode too as mentioned in the datasheet.
But can I know the range of freqency and duty of fPWM which can be supported by DRV8889A-Q1? We need it to estimate EMI spec of our system.
e.g. fPWM= 10kHz_min to 30kHz_max with 0%_min to 100%_max etc...

It is helpful if you can answer as early as possible. Thank you.

Best regards,
Yuto Kitamura

  • Hi Kitamura-san,

    Thank you for your question.

Like you mentioned it depends on several factors including which quadrant of the current is being regulated. That said, the range of fPWM could be in the approx. range of  5 kHz to 200 kHz as well as duty cycle could be in the range of 5 % to 100 %. Note, 100 % duty means no fPWM, this could happen when Icoil never reaches the target Itrip - which would be a function BEMF (speed), VM voltage and motor characteristics. Thank you.
