DRV8935PEVM: DRV8935PEVM PWM and STEP Mode Behavior with Unipolar and Bipolar Motors

The Step mode is coded for DRV8935 to control a stepper motor. Please check the application note below 3.3.1 Driving in Full-step Mode. IT shows how a stepper motor can be controlled using DRV8935. To access the code you can check DRV8935 firmware code.
