DRV8300: Application issues.

Hi Team,

Using DRV8300NRGER/QFN-24, customer quality analysis found that the chip integrates diodes internally.

According to the specifications, DRV8300NRGER does not integrate diodes internally. What is the reason for this?

After removing the external diode on the board, it is not affected. Under normal circumstances, the diode will be affected after removal.

  • Hey Reed,

We are already discussing this over email with the FAE. I had requested for a few waveforms to confirm the functionality and am waiting to hear back on those.

    Best,

    Akshay

  • Hi Akshay,

We are replacing FD6288Q with DRV8300N,
When removing a diode, the FD6288Q board will not work.
But the board of DRV8300N will still work normally.

The test points are shown in the following figure:

The following three images show the test waveforms of diodes on the board:

The following three images show the test waveform of the D16 diode removed from the board, but it still works normally. At this point, it should not work properly.

  • Hey Reed,

Thank you for the measurements. We have requested for units back from the customer tot he FAE for further analysis.

Does the customer have a three or 4 channel channel scope?

Would the customer be able to send a waveform of BSTx-SHx, GHx-GND, SHX-GND for  two or three switches in one waveform for the same phase? one with diode and one without? This would make comparison a little easier. Although  it seems that the gate is able to turn on fully from the 2n last waveform.

    Best,

    Akshay
