MCT8316A: Using External 3.3V Supply Instead of Internal Buck Converter

Part Number: MCT8316A

Tool/software:

Hi there,

We are using the MCT8316A in our design but do not intend on using the internal buck converter.

Regarding the application note SLAA643, I can see that it is possible to provide an external voltage source to FB_BK and omit the capacitor and resistor/inductor for the buck converter.

My question is, do I need to configure any registers prior to powering on the device? or can I simply apply 3V3 and then change the appropriate registers to disable the buck converter and proceed as normal?

Regards,

Nathan
