DRV3245Q-Q1: FMD requested

Part Number: DRV3245Q-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8305,

Tool/software:

Hi all,

We are seeking for an alternative for the DRV8305. The DRV3245 seems to be one in terms of fitting and required ASIL-A.

In order to to get things right I would need a FMD of the DRV3245Q-Q1 which I can't find in the provided safety documentation.

Is a FMD for the DRV3245Q-Q1 available?

What about the DRV8305 - Is a FMD for the chip available? (for the sake of asking)

Regards

Marc

  • Hi Marc,

Thanks for reaching out! The safety documentation for the DRV3245 is available under NDA, and can be requested via the device product page under the "Request more information" section.

The DRV8305 does not have an FMD available for that chip.

What is the minimum required operating voltage for the device?

    Regards,

    Anthony Lodi

  • Hi Lodi,

I already have the safety documentation for the DRV3245. Unfortunately a FMD is not part of it, as far as I can tell. I hope, I haven't missed out. For just in case, could you please point me to the right direction.

Since our product is already produced, I could imagine that the DRV3245 could be a drop-in replacement for the DRV8305. Furthermore ASIL-A is now established, which was not the case before. Thus a FMD would be quite helpful.

    Furthermore:

The MTBF and FIT Rate Estimator (for both ICs) is imho quite optimistic considering the FIT. I am not sure if this is usable. Could you please give me a feedback on this topic: Can this toole be trusted?

    Thank's for your assistance

    Best regards

    Marc

  • Hi Marc,

Have you looked at the DRV3245 FMEDA? This provides a detailed breakdown of block area and failure modes and safety mechanisms to detect the failures. The FMEDA does have more information than you likely need since it is targeting ASIL-D, but should hopefully be more than sufficient to meet your requirements.

Which variant of the DRV8305 is the customer using?

For the MTBF and FIT Rate Estimator did the customer use the Derating tool to account for operating temperature?

    Regards,
