MCF8329EVM: Load Default preset *.json file and minimum speed control

Part Number: MCF8329EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MCF8329A, MOTORSTUDIO

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are using the MCF8329EVM evaluation board to control a Low voltage (35 Volt) High Current (Max 20 A) Brushless DC motor,

The Spin Motor Start correctly with I2C Controls, we can move the motor correctly between 2% and 100% of the i2C Speed Command -about-> 5 Hz to 250 Hz Reference for Speed Loop

Question:

1) In the Main Quick Spin page i have to "Load Default" Select Preset and they ask to me a .json file, for Load the Preset Values, later, but I never got there, you enter the peak current Max speed pole pairs etc...
where can i find those Preset values ?? and how do i proceed with the setup ?? --> Run MPET ??

2) I need to drastically reduce the minimum speed of my motor, I need to run at less than < 1 RPM i.e. < 0.01 Hz as slow as possible, how and where can i parameterize the Motor Studio??

Thank you

  • Hi Michele,

    1) Could you please refer the MCF8329A Tuning Guide.

    2) You could reduce the CL_DEC to very low values to achieve this

    Regards,
    Sachin S

  • Good evening Mr Sachin,

thanks for your help, i have download the Tuning Guide "sllu374.pdf" actually I was missing this file now I'm going to study it.

For the second question, OK I will check the CL_DEC value

For the last question of the ".json" file, i have find in other forum this: "Default Registers MCF8329A.json" but i don't find it in the official web TI site ???  or did I not search well??

in any case can i manually modify this file and reload it every time in the evaluation board?? can i find the value and explanation of all the registers contained in this file in the sllu373,pdf guide?? or do i have to look in other parts??

    thank you very much

  • Hi Michele,

You can refer the datasheet to understand the values in the .json or simply load it into MOTORSTUDIO and refer to "i" button in the register map section for details on each setting

can i find the value and explanation of all the registers contained in this file in the sllu373,pdf guide??

    Regards,

    Sachin S

  • Good morning Mr Sachin,

OK, there are really so many parameters and so many registers to analyze that can be modified from various parts of the motor studio I will have to try!

#Sorry for the last question I can't find the value 'CL_DEC' anywhere where can I find it ??  it's parameters, register ??

#and also I can't run Autotuning to take engine motors measurements values. From which page is it best to take them?

    Thank you

  • Hi Sachin,
I found the CL_DEC on Advanced Tuning  in Control Configuration- Closed Loop; i try all the low values and i have study and change all the other Advanced parameters; but with no result!!, I can't get the motor speed down to about 4 Hz, I have to get it down to about  <<1 Hz  <0.5 RPM  <1°degree/sec  is it possible that I ask you for a .json configuration or something similar to get these very low speeds?? in email can you ask me for the data of the BLDC motor that provided them to you?? Thanks

  • Hi Michele,

Could you share the motor datasheet? Or do you prefer sharing it over email?

    Regards,

    Sachin S

  • Good morning,

Yes thank you, can i share in email my complete datasheet motors ??,

I didn't find the section where to send it to you, do you have to invite me?
It has all the necessary data and has been mechanically optimized for low speeds.

    Thank you

  • Hi Michele,

Sachin is on business travel this week, kindly share the data sheet through message to us.

We will aim to respond by this week end,

    Thanks and Best regards

  • Ok thank you very much,
I send a message to you now
