DRV8714-Q1: Motor stop when increasing duty cycle close to 100%

Part Number: DRV8714-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

My customer is facing a issue when using DRV8714-Q1.

When they try to increased the duty cycle from 0% to 100% w/ duty step 10/1024 every 10ms, and they found that when the duty cycle is close to 100, maybe 90+%, the motor stopped. Which is very weird.

Below is the waveform: CH1: current, CH2: GH1, CH3: IN1, CH4: O_MOTOR_OUT+. You can check below schematic for the net position.

Below is the schematic:

Support need:

1. Help review the schematic to see if any risk lead to this issue

2. help analyze why this would happen. Thanks!

Thanks!

  • Hi Jayden

You are posting on public E2E.

Could you provide your customer's name and application use case. I will feedback to you for schematic review. Please create internal post if needed.

I could see CH3:IN1 signal stopped then motor driving is also stopped. This could be normal. Looks like MCU provide PWM signal to DRV8714-Q1's IN1 pin. If PWM singal at IN1 stopped, DRV could not spin motor with PWM anymore.

  • Hi Shinya,

    The application is sunroof.

Is it possible that some kind of fault was triggered at that moment, I am asking customer to check if the fault register bit was set.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Jayden,

    Could you share customer name?

MCU just stopped providing PWM signal to DRV. So may not have any fault condition.

    regards

    Shinya
