MCF8316A: Tying the FG output to one of the motor phases

Part Number: MCF8316A

Tool/software:

I would like to use the FG output to determine the absolute position of the motor on startup.  However, the output of FG changes by +/- 60 degrees at random depending on the motor startup sequence.  It appears that the startup algorithm randomly selects one of the motor phases to align with the FG output.  Is there a setting that keeps the FG output fixed to a specific motor phase every startup?

Here is an example of the 3 different positions for the FG output.  Red, green and black show the 3 different FG outputs.  The other waveforms are 3 different captures of the same motor phase.  I would like to align the green FG output with the motor phase and not have the FG output jump to the red or black FG outputs.
