DRV2511-Q1: Load Current Measurement Discrepancy with Single-Ended Input

Part Number: DRV2511-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

I'm having trouble driving an actuator with the DRV2511-Q1. I'm using a function generator to provide an arbitrary waveform to the input, but the measured load current doesn't match the expected output.

Here are my test conditions:

  • DRV2511-Q1 Configuration:
    • VDD: 5V
    • Gain: 20dB
  • Input Signal:
    • Source: Function generator (arbitrary waveform)
    • Configuration: Single-ended. IN- connected to GND through a 0.1uF capacitor. IN+ receives a 1.6V ± 0.5V 60Hz arbitrary waveform.
  • Load: 4.4uH inductor in series with a 10Ω resistor.
  • Measurement: I'm measuring the current flowing through the load.

Expected Behavior: I expected the load current waveform to be proportional to the input voltage waveform.

Could there be an issue with my setup, or am I misunderstanding how the DRV2511-Q1 should behave? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I understand that with a 20dB gain, the output voltage should be 10 times the input voltage.

However, given my 5V VDD, won't the output saturate if the input is ± 0.5V?
