DRV8910-Q1: OLD current

Genius 17295 points
Part Number: DRV8910-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello,

My customer has some questions for OLD function of DRV8910-Q1.

Low-current acitve OLD looks like supporting only L outpt. Can't it be used for H output?

The active OLD current is defined as 2~18mA(TYP 9mA). This is too big for their application.
Is there any way to reduce it?

2mA MAX of Low currect active OLD is good, but it looks like not supporting H output.
They need to support both H and L outputs

And doesn't DRV8908 support passive OLD?

Regards,
Oba

  • Low-current acitve OLD looks like supporting only L outpt. Can't it be used for H output?

    This is correct.

The active OLD current is defined as 2~18mA(TYP 9mA). This is too big for their application.
Is there any way to reduce it?

Enabling low-current OLD will set the IOLD threshold for the low-side FET to 0.2 to 2mA (0.8 typical). Other than enabling this setting, there is not another way to reduce the IOLD threshold

2mA MAX of Low currect active OLD is good, but it looks like not supporting H output.
They need to support both H and L outputs

loads which will only drive the high side FET cannot use the low-current OLD feature to change the IOLD threshold values.

    doesn't DRV8908 support passive OLD?

DRV8908 does support passive OLD. The steps to enable the passive OLD feature can be found in section 8.3.3.5.3 of the datasheet and Table 9 contains the passive OLD truth table.

  • Hello Joshua,

    Thanks for your reply.

    >doesn't DRV8908 support passive OLD?

Sorry, this is just a typo.

    Doesn't DRV8910 support passive OLD?

    Regards,
    Oba

  • Hi Oba,

the DRV8910 and DRV8912 do not support passive OLD. The passive OLD feature is only available on the DRV8904, DRV8906, and DRV8908.

    Regards,
