DRV2511Q1EVM: Inquiry About Standalone Operation of DRV2511 on EVM

Tool/software:

I would like to operate the DRV2511 on the EVM without using the Haptics Control Console.

Currently, the EVM seems to control the EN signal through the console software.

I'm wondering if there's a way to run the EVM in standalone mode—just by supplying PVDD and connecting USB 5V—without relying on external software. Is this possible?

Hi,

I think it can be possible, yes. Modify the J8 and J10 jumpers appropriately.

I checked the schematic and see that the STDBY, standby, pin has no external connections. You could try soldering a wire and grounding that pin directly to get the part to be enabled. STDBY high = standby mode; assert low for active mode. Similarly, you will not have control for the FS0/1/2 pins unless you solder external wires to them.

The EN pin has external pull-up resistors, so you can easily modify that pin connection. EN low = Shutdown mode; assert high for active mode.

What I meant earlier is whether it's possible to achieve this without any hardware modifications.

I'm wondering if there's a way to make the system operate in standalone mode purely through firmware changes.

Ok, sure, you can modify the firmware to just set the pins high or low. I don't see the firmware on the EVM page.. I feel like it was there a long time ago, but not there anymore.
