Request for Support – Motor Stalling at LOWER RPM Using MCT8329A

Dear Team,

I am working with the MCT8329A BLDC motor driver and using external N-channel MOSFETs (Part No: STL36DN6F7) to drive a BLDC motor with the following specifications:

Operating voltage: 24V

Current/phase: 2.2A

Torque: 65 OZ-IN

min Speed: 750 RPM

Maximum speed: 3000 RPM

The issue I am facing is that when I try to run the motor at or near its lower speed (below 1200 RPM), it stalls or stops randomly. I have already configured the TORQUE register to its maximum full-scale current, but the problem persists. and Rsense resistor is 0.01Ohm

Could you please help identify the possible factors that might be limiting the performance and preventing the motor from reaching its rated speed from MCT8329A?

how do i know the min rpm supporting capacity of the MCT8329A ??

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,
Mani J

  • HI Manikanta,

Thanks for reaching out, could you let me know the number of pole pairs in the motor. Trying to understand the minimum target speed in Hz.
