DRV8306: DRV8306 EXTERNAL GATE DRIVER CONNECTION VCP SETTING and CHARGE PUMP

Part Number: DRV8306

Tool/software:

Hello,

Need help.

We use DRV8306 to drive a motor, but we must need to use external GATE-DRIVER (BOOTSTRAP) to drive MOSFET for HIGHSIDE and LOWSIDE. Therefore, we only need to GHA (PIN5), GHB (PIN11), GHC (PIN12), outputting DVDD (3.3V) respect to ground, or no more than 5V. We make SHA (PIN6), SHB (PIN10), SHC (PIN13), tie to ground input. We set I-drive to a lowest level, 15/30 mA, or I-DRIVE (PIN22) tie to GROUND.

Also, we need GLA (pin7), GLB (pin 9), GLC (pin 14), outputs DVDD (3.3V).

Then, how to connect VDS to what level? So that CHARGE-PUMP outputting a minimum level.

  • Hi John,

I'm not sure I understand your application. Are you trying to drive a three phase bldc motor? if not can you provide a simple schematic of what you are trying to do with our driver?

Then, how to connect VDS to what level? So that CHARGE-PUMP outputting a minimum level.

the charge pump is supplied by VM so as long as VM is supplied and ENABLE is HIGH then the charge pump should be on.

VDS is the pin that controls over current trip voltage
