DRV8145H-Q1EVM: DRV8145H-Q1EVM

Part Number: DRV8145H-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8245-Q1, DRV8244-Q1, DRV8145-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

Can I use DRV8145H-Q1EVM to drive following spec of motor? I don't see any heatsink attached to it and I wanted to clarify about EVM capability..

  • Brushed DC motor
  • 28V
  • 3.5A DC
  • A Full-bridge configuration will be used
  • IN1 and IN2 will be DC (100%)  not PWM
  • Hi Samuel,

The DRV8145H-Q1EVM should not have any issue with driving this motor although the DRV8145-Q1 is only a single half-bridge so two EVMs will be needed to have a full-bridge configuration. If you are using a full-bridge configuration I would recommend taking a look at the DRV8245-Q1 or even the DRV8244-Q1. The current capabilities of our devices is given in the Transient Thermal Impedance (RθJA) and Current Capability table in the device's datasheets.

Our junction estimator calculators can also be used to see the expected rise in junction temperature based on the load profile:
