I have rather an unusual question for DRV 8329, we have one product where DRV8329 is used and it drives BLDC motor as expected, but We wanted to explore if we can use the same hardware on a different project where we need to run brushed DC motor ? Is it possible by doing some modifications on external circuit around DRV8329 ?

I did check that, I am not sure about the nFAULT assertation. As brushed motor only one phase is required, other 2 will not be operating, but if we keep lower FET on for other phases (which are not active, can we mitigate bootstrap voltage error which results in nFAULT triggering ?

Hello,

Yes, you will be able to operate a brushed motor with the DRV8329.

For example, you can use one phase for PWM (high FET PWM), one phase for GND (low FET on), and one Phase HI-Z.

Then you connect the brushed motor + terminal to the PWM Phase and the brushed motor - terminal to the GND phase, this is what I have done in the past to spin DC motor with 3 phase parts like DRV8329.

Yes. I was able to run motor. motor was connected between Ph U and V. Ph U upper FET switching, Ph V lower FET always on and for braking, PH U lower was turned ON. Only difference, is i kept Ph W lower MOSFET ON.
