DRV8311HEVM: InstaSPIN GUI couldn't identify motor

Part Number: DRV8311HEVM

Tool/software:

Hi,

I recently purchased the DRV8311HEVM paired with the F280049C board and have successfully connected it to the InstaSPIN Universal GUI. I followed the manual to enable the system, which allowed me to read the bus voltage and other parameters.

However, when I try to run the automatic motor profiling, I encounter two types of issues. The motor I’m profiling is a small VCI 0702 drone motor (22000KV). Occasionally, the profiler algorithm starts and the motor spins, with resistance values close to the spec sheet, but the inductance readings are much higher than expected (often 10x), and the motor vibrates, fails to spin properly, and heats up, and even when the program runs through and reports "motor identified," but clicking "run" results in no response from the board, and the run button de-selects itself. Sometimes, the profiler does not complete at all, and the board shows no response. without even spin the motor.

I’ve tried several small motors (4–6V) with high KV but have not had success with any of them. Could you suggest possible reasons for these issues? Thank you!
