DRV8912-Q1: Chopping Mode (With PWM), how to configure to realize motor rotation with forward direction and reverse direction

Part Number: DRV8912-Q1

Tool/software:

DRV8912 can work in Continuous mode and Chopping Mode (With PWM)

For Figure 36:  PMW is applied on LS side of OUT2 half-bridge.

For forward direction (current flow from OUT1 to OUT2),does it mean that OUT1 half-bridge is configured as continuous mode and OUT2 half-bridge is configured as PWM mode ?

For reverse direction (current flow from OUT2 to OUT1),  does it mean that OUT2 half-bridge is configured as continuous mode and  OUT1 half-bridge is configured as PWM mode ?

Thanks!

  • Hi Hou,

What you mention is correct, for the forward direction you would configure OUT1 as continuous mode and enable the high side FET. For OUT2, you would configure the mode as PWM mode and enable the low side FET. The configuration for reverse is similar with OUT2 being continuous mode with the high side FET enabled and OUT1 being PWM mode with the low side FET enabled.
