hi expert
i saw the following "Table 7-5. Fault Action and Response" in our datasheet.
could you show me which fault can detect phase open?
thanks

Hi Jay Wang,
MTR_LOCK includes No motor fault, this is for phase open
Thanks and Best regards

Hi Venkatadri
i saw the following picture in datasheet. from my understanding, if NO motor is on phase wire, the following fault [ABN_BEMF],[NO_MTR],[MTR_LCK] bit will report at the same time, am right?
Hi Jay Wang,
MTR_LCK groups ABN_BEMF | ABN_SPEED | NO_MTR, when not motor fault occurs it report MTR_LCK and NO_MTR only.
Thanks and Best regards

Hi Venkatadri
i saw this E2E question: (+) MCF8316C-Q1: Does MCF8316C support detecting motor open circuit? - Motor drivers forum - Motor drivers - TI E2E support forums
i saw this word is mentioned. "Also, Abnormal BEMF is indirect indication of motor stall or missing winding can cause."
do you mean: if motor miss winding, not phase open, Abnormal BEMF will be reported?
Hi Jay wang,
When a winding is missing, the BEMF estimation also sees difference and can show abnormal BEMF.
In the next instance when restarted after clearing fault and if the winding is missing device detects NO_MTR.
Thanks and Best regards
